The most comon visa that we come across in our expat community is the spouse/partner and fiancé visas.
To apply for the partner or spouse visa or the fiance visa the sponsoring spouse must either be:
- a British or Irish citizen, or
- currently settled in the UK (with indefinite leave to remain, settled status, or proof of permanent residence), or
- be from the European Union More, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein and have pre-settled status – they must have started living in the UK before 1 January 2021
Both must be 18 or older, and must intend to live together permanently in the UK after you apply. 1
