Some expats miss American foods and cooking ingredients more than anything else. The right seasonings make all the difference to the taste of your meal, and sometimes a flavour of home is all we need to get to through a bout of homesickness.
Lawry's Seasoning Salt Copycat
This 7 ingredient clone of Lawry's Seasoned Salt can be made in a small bowl, but it's best stored in an old shaker-top spice bottle that you've cleaned out and saved.
Ingredients
- 2 T salt
- 2 t sugar
- 1/2 t paprika
- 1/4 t turmeric
- 1/4 t onion powder
- 1/2 t garlic powder
- 1/4 t cornstarch
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in small bowl.
- Pour into small shaker jar.
Notes
Variations: Some recipes call for celery salt and cayenne pepper. Experiment to get your desired flavour. You may also wish to try superfine salts and sugar.
Double or triple the recipe if you're storing n a larger jar.
